Krone Swadro 1400 Plus rake
This rake, towed by a John Deere 7530 tractor, had just finished collecting up the grass in this field. It folds up hydraulically to less than 4m in height for transport. To see it in action http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4666853

Baling the grass on Meadow View Farm
A JCB Agri 414S wheel loader, fitted with a Fleming Outfront Square Baler Grabber, loads bales onto a trailer hauled by a John Deere 6190R tractor. I didn't see the beginning of the process but, if all four tractors and the JCB started at the same time, then picking up and loading the bales onto the trailer seemed to take the most time. Baling the grass on Meadow View Farm
The more distant John Deere tractor is towing a Krone Swadro 1400 Plus 4-rotor centre-delivery rake. It collects the grass over a width up to 13.5 m and leaves it in a thin line ready for the Claas Quadrant 2100 square baler which is being towed by the John Deere tractor in the foreground. This picks up the grass and compresses it into a square bale, ties it and drops it behind. See also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4666833

Garden in Hensting Lane, April 6th 2008
Oh no it hasn't! See Image In recent years it very rarely snows in Hampshire, despite quite frequent Met Office predictions. This time the Almighty has put on a respectable performance.

Making a neat join in Hensting Lane
A new 45mm surface course of tarmacadam had been laid on top of the old road. At driveways such as here, the old road surface was planed down beforehand. The BW120-AD roller is then used to make a neat join. The larger BW161-ADCV roller seen beyond runs up and down the road immediately after the tarmac has been laid

Baling the grass on Meadow View Farm
After the grass has been made into bales, the bales are picked up by this red Kuhn Intelliwrap SW 4004 large square-bale wrapper whose rotating arms wrap it in black Silotite plastic. The wrapped bales are then picked up by the JCB Agri 414S wheel loader and put on the trailer in the background of this photo. The wrapper is towed by a Fendt tractor, and the trailer by a John Deere 6190R. See also http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4666833

Spraying tack coat in Hensting Lane
After sweeping the road, the next step in preparing it for a 45mm top course of new tarmacadam is to spray a tack coat of hot bitumen emulsion. This lorry does that job. It was not quite wide enough to cover the whole road and therefore had to make two passes, resulting in a double dose over the central part of the road. The lorry does not have the agility to get into the places, as seen here, where old tarmac has been planed down so that the new tarmac abuts flush with driveways.
