Marlborough buildings [3]
Many of the buildings in High Street are old, interesting and listed. Seen here are numbers 36 & 37, which have an early 18th century front to an older building. Some 17th century internal features survive. Listed, grade II*, with details at: https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1253338 Marlborough is a market town on the Old Bath Road once the main road from London to Bath. The twice-weekly market is sited in High Street, one of the widest in England, lined on both sides with fine listed buildings of which the town has almost 300. There is evidence of local settlement from every period from the prehistoric to the present day. The town is home to the renowned Marlborough College. The River Kennet flows through the town.

Rick Stein restaurant, Marlborough
This establishment seems to typify the way that Marlborough has developed in recent years, A typical Wiltshire town has moved on from agriculture and trades towards upmarket shops and restaurants, the High Street now having more than its fair share of boutiques and fancy furnishing stores. On the day this photo was taken there was a Ferrari parked nearby, which makes a change from an old series two Land Rover. Proximity to the M4 corridor and rapid rail transport from nearby Great Bedwyn and Swindon may be factors affecting the changes.
