Manor House, Berwick Bassett
Grade II Listed early 17th century manor house http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-311257-manor-house-berwick-bassett-built in coursed sarsen with a tiled roof. The five bays fronting the street have stone-mullioned windows, several of which are now blocked in, and the entrances do not face the road, giving it a grim, almost prison-like aspect. The front garden is edged with undressed sarsen boulders; the sarsen theme continues beyond these with a sarsen pavement. This huge number of sarsens was probably cleared from the slopes of Berwick Bassett Down, a short distance to the east; a few sarsens still survive on the slopes of Monkton Down, just south of that.

Sarsen wall and pavement, Berwick Bassett
This sarsen wall and pavement run alongside the Manor House Image], itself built in sarsen. The sarsens would have come from the flanks of Berwick Bassett Down, a mile or two to the east.
