Youth Engagement

Response (16 Apr 2024)

We want to engage and speak with our young people both at the Friday night youth club and elsewhere around the Marlborough area. This will hopefully assist us in getting closer ties with young people and breaking down some of the barriers between young people and the police.

Shoplifting and retail crime

Response (23 Aug 2024)

Like any other town has challenges with shoplifting but given the number of shops in Marlborough and the nature of them – for many small and independent shops the effect is felt more so. We are looking to put in place a Shopwatch group to assist in the sharing of intelligence and to monitor and track crime reports in addition to our normal work investigating shop thefts.

Hare Coursing and Rural Related Crime

Response (22 Oct 2024)

Increase identified in reports of hare coursing in the rural areas around Marlborough. This time of year, after crops have been harvested, we often see an increase in reports of hare coursing and the associated damage to land. The concerns with crimes of this nature are that on occasions hare coursing activities are linked with rural burglaries and theft of plant and farm machinery.

Locally we are increasing patrols in our rural areas along with working alongside our dedicated Rural Crime Team.

Positive action to disrupt hare coursing in our rural areas and continue to build a visible presence in our communities.
