Another large retail outlet. The previous occupier of the site was a large but ultimately not very successful DIY store. Before that the site was a bacon factory which shut down in the 1970s.

BMW Plant 35 Swindon
Built in 1955 as part of Pressed Steel Company as an extension of their Oxford Plant. Austin Cambridge, 1100, 1300, Triumph 2000, MG Range all Rover models and parts for Land Rover built here. Now part of BMW empire and makes panels and sub-assemblies for Mini.

Pressed Steel 1967
The Pressed Steel plant was one of the first major employers to come to the town as the railway works declined. Here car bodies were made mainly for BMC at Cowley and Longbridge. The 'just in time' method of production was many years away, so unpainted car body shells had to be stored in less than ideal conditions before being sent on to Cowley.
