Electricity sub-station, Green Road
The painted-out sign on this electricity sub-station reads: "South Wales Switchgear". The smaller signs read: "Stratton (Blue)", "Plessey 1", "Control Room", "Bus Section", and "Plessey 2" (the last sign is illegible). The building backs on to the disused Great Western Railway Highworth branch line.

Gates blocking disused GWR Highworth branch line
Double gates block off the disused Great Western Railways (GWR) Highworth branch line where it crosses the cyclepath connecting Gipsy Lane to Green Road. Past this point, the line used to continue to Highworth, while a spur branched off into the Pressed Steel plant (now BMW Mini), where car body parts were loaded prior to being transported to Oxford for assembly.

Level crossing, cyclepath beside BMW Mini factory
The cyclepath runs between the BMW Mini factory and the disused Great Western Railways Swindon-Highworth branch line. It crosses the rails here where a line enters the factory. Although the siding is no longer used, and car body parts are now transported by road, the sign, whose design is curiously old-fashioned but is still in current use, still remains.

Railway line leading out of the BMW MINI body plant, Swindon
In the days when the factory was owned by MG Rover, trainloads of car body panels left along this line for the assembly plant at Longbridge, Birmingham. Nowadays the panels for the MINI leave for BMW's Cowley plant by road.
