Blunsdon by-pass site, Blunsdon 08.05.2008
This view to the north has been made possible by the opening of a new bridge carrying local traffic over the main route. Plainly a fair amount of work is needed to complete the project but the indications are that this will be achieved by the end of 2008. The image isn't, of itself, that informative but it should be interesting to look back on when the new road is open.

A419 - the new bypass
A very new section of road, avoiding the traffic lights near Abbey Stadium. The bridge carries the B4019. Note the route confirmatory sign's modern supports, composed of a metal lattice, designed to crumple in collision. These may be compared with the older steel tubular design found on earlier rebuilds of the A419 around Swindon (see, for example: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2088179 ).

Bridge over Blunsdon by-pass, Blunsdon 08.05.2008
The bridge, which can be seen in other images posted for this square such as http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/784643 opened for traffic yesterday. It carries local traffic from the A419 to Blunsdon St Andrew and points west. The A419 is out of sight ahead of the viewpoint.

Blunsdon by-pass, 18.11.2008
The south-bound carriageway, on the right, opened overnight on the 16/17 November. This http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/622907 is a similar view taken a year ago although it should be noted that the viewpoint for that one no longer exists except as a point in mid-air.
