Preserved ex-GWR 4-6-0 'Cogan Hall' in former A Shop, Swindon Works, 1997
View SE where 'A' Shop had been until 1986. No. 5952 (minus tender) looks beautifully restored, at present-day Swindon GWR Museum; the locomotive had been built there in 12/35, withdrawn 6/64, then saved from Woodhams' Barry scrapyard only in 9/81, restored by the Cambrian Railway at Oswestry and passed to the Llangollen Railway in 2010. (Date of this photograph rather uncertain).

Anti-graffiti sign on the Western Flyer, Swindon
Central Swindon North Parish Council is taking a pro-active approach to tackling the scourge of graffiti with this hard-hitting sign beside the Western Flyer cycle path. How effective it might be no doubt remains to be seen but it can be no bad thing to remind potential perpetrators that they could have a great deal to lose.
