Old canal site, Swindon
The Wilts and Berks canal once ran through the town centre, and after it was filled in during the 1920's it became a pedestrian route and cycleway. This view shows the old canal bridge at the southern end of Milton Road [Milton road to the right and Commercial Road to the left]. The tall brick building on the left may have started as a warehouse, but for many years was the Central Club. Presumably all this area has now been redeveloped.

Former Milton Club, Milton Road, Swindon
A working men's club that closed in 2012 as the Milton Club, the building still appears to be disused. Formerly called the Milton Road Club, as the green sign high on the wall indicates. On the left is a parapet of a bridge over the former Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal, here filled in and a cycleway.
