A change of location, a change of use
The K6 phone box on the Millennium Green is not only now a book exchange, the box itself is a recent installation of a few years ago. Previously there was a telephone box further along the road near the church, but that has gone. Could this be that self same kiosk, reappearing in a different place?

The Somerford Arms
Initially the King's Head pub (closer to the road junction) was the first pub in the village, opening up in 1865. It faced opposition when this pub opened before 1895 as The Three Crowns. By 1956, the King's Head closed and became a private cottage. However, the Three Crowns was not doing so well and was renamed The Somerford Arms in 1988. That didn't stop it later becoming The Saladin for a while before controversy arose. The landlady claimed that it would have to close due to costs and an attempt was made to sell the pub for housing. Locals rejected the proposals and bought it as a community asset, despite a disagreement over the true costings. Its name returned to The Somerford Arms.
