This shellproof type 24 pillbox in 1940 formed part of Stop Line Green. The railway track and level crossing at this point have long since disappeared.

Dauntsey Road crossing
This house, on the road from Great Somerford to Dauntsey, was once the crossing-keeper's cottage, on the GWR branch line from Dauntsey to Malmesbury. The track passed immediately to the left of the building.

Encroaching on the allotments
The Free Gardens are a prime cultural as well as historic part of Great Somerford. However, that doesn't stop the new house builds by Broadfield Farm getting closer by the day.
