Lights in Greenfield
The old R.A.F. Lyneham airfield is no longer in full military use, having closed about a decade ago. However, the runway lights are still here close to the Chippenham Road.

Landing lights, St Michael's Close, Lyneham
These lights illuminate the westerly approach for Runway 25, RAF Lyneham. '25' is an abbreviation for a compass bearing of 250 degrees and indicates the orientation of the runway and the approach needed to land on it.

Old Milestone by the B4069, Chippenham Road, Lyneham
Carved stone post by the B4069 (was A420), in parish of LYNEHAM (NORTH WILTSHIRE District), Chippenham Road; on the verge, beside telegraph pole, on South side of road, opposite No. 85 and Sawmills Garage. Swindon waist, erected by the Swindon & Christian Malford turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-

Milestone on Chippenham Road, Lyneham
An old stone now standing on the opposite side of the main road through Lyneham. In the past there was a sawmill which has now been lost after the development of the site. See Image] for a closer look.

This stone lies on the Chippenham Road, on the opposite side of the road from its original spot. If the engravings could be read, it would say 'Wootton Bassett 4, Chippenham 10'. See Image] for a location view.
