Carved stone post by the B4069 (was A420), in parish of LYNEHAM (NORTH WILTSHIRE District), Chippenham Road; on the verge, beside telegraph pole, on South side of road, opposite No. 85 and Sawmills Garage. Swindon waist, erected by the Swindon & Christian Malford turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : TO / WOOTTON BASSETT / 4 Miles / TO SWINDON / 10 MILES : : TO / CHIPPENHAM / 10 / MILES : : TO / BATH / 23 / Miles : : TO / OXFORD / (40 / Miles) : Grade II listed.
