11-14 Park Lane, Chippenham
These houses of c.1850 are listed grade II (list entry 1267961) as 'one of the better-preserved groups of artisan housing in this suburb, built up after the arrival of the railway in 1840-1841.' They look sadly neglected now.

Park Lane, Chippenham, with cycle lane
It is in practice rare to see this arrangement whereby the cycle lane is between the pavement and car parking bays. But it is recommended good practice as the parked cars offer a safety barrier to passing cyclists - just beware of doors opening!

New splash pad, John Coles Park
Work on a new splash pad almost finished in John Coles Park. St Paul's church in the background. A splash pad is a recreation area, often in a public park, for water play that has little or no standing water. This is said to eliminate the need for lifeguards or other supervision, as there is little risk of drowning. Typically there are ground nozzles that spray water upwards at random or in a preset programme out of the splash pad's floor which is usually coated in rubber granules or other soft material.
