Marshfield tollhouse
The traditional style of tollhouse of an angular frontage with windows facing along the road can be seen here on the west end of Marshfield. Grade II listed, it is also part of the larger building behind it, and once marked the main Bristol road before the A420 was created to the north in the 1960s. Marshfield had another tollhouse further to the east but it is now long gone.

Crispe coat of arms, Marshfield
These 2 sets of Crispe armorial bearings are set above the porch on a central wide gable of the Marshfield almshouses. The Crispes were Marshfield men who had become wealthy London merchants. Nicholas was a member of the Skinners' Company and Ellis of the Salters' Company. The coats-of-arms are of these companies.
