The back of the George, Eastcott Hill, Swindon
The rear yard is fenced off but I was able to poke a camera lens through to get this shot of the now-closed pub facing an uncertain future. NOTE. This image has a detailed ‘shared description’ which you won’t see by viewing this image on a slideshow. To read it click on the image.

The George, Eastcott Hill, Swindon
The pub has gone the way of many others both locally and nationally and fallen victim to changing times, habits and financial climates. It closed earlier this year. NOTE. Moravian church, Dixon Street, Swindon
The Moravian church originated in Bohemia in what is now the Czech Republic. The building they are in here probably started life as a Methodist church but I could be wrong. This is the church's website http://www.moravian.org.uk/index.php/uk-congregations-list-for-the-moravian-church/western-district/swindon This church is unlikely to be visited by any of our more taciturn church specialists - it isn't grand enough.

The Duke of Wellington, Eastcott Hill, Swindon
Once said to be the smallest pub in Swindon, the Duke of Wellington has closed its doors for the last time as a pub. It seems likely it will be converted to bedsits. NOTE. Swindon Road, Swindon
Swindon Road is part of the network of roads built in the Victorian era so connect the lower part of Swindon, which used to be called New Town, with the higher part, still called Old Town. The brick-built properties at the right are relatively recent additions to the housing stock. Once there was a garage here if I recall correctly.
