A trough from Gundry
A large water trough now stands on The Green, but which was previously further along Southgate in the middle of the road. It was provided by Richard Hickley Gundry and the legend records he was 'kind to every living thing'. Gundry was a member of the Wiltshire family who have links in Calne and Melksham, and other benefactions can be seen: the scout hall was provided on land owned by Captain R. S. Gundry in 1908.
