Coate Bridge - No.136 - K&A Canal Devizes - 2003
Dr.Clifton's photo shows Coate Bridge as it was in 1977.
It has since been completely rebuilt due to development on both sides of the canal, private housing to the left as we see it, business and housing to the right.
This view is from the east.

Devizes buildings [55]
At the junction of Gypsy Path with Coate Lane stands the remains of a very large metal framed building. The building is so large it cannot be captured in one image. It has obviously been derelict for some considerable time given the size of the trees growing through what was once the roof.
The market town of Devizes developed around its 11th century castle. It gained a charter in 1141 and holds a weekly market in the large and picturesque Market Place. In the 16th century the town became known for its textiles and in the early 18th century held the largest corn market in the West Country. Devizes has about 500 listed buildings - a very large number for a small town.
