Quakers Walk looking towards Roundway
Quakers Walk is a footpath from Devizes to Roundway Village. Possibly medieval, the path is over three quarters of a mile long. There is an interesting article on the walk at http://www.devizesheritage.org.uk/quakers_walk.html

Devizes ways [18]
The road is called Roundway Park and it was once the drive to Roundway House. The house was built in 1777-83 and was demolished in 1955. The road now serves some residential properties.
The market town of Devizes developed around its 11th century castle. It gained a charter in 1141 and holds a weekly market in the large and picturesque Market Place. In the 16th century the town became known for its textiles and in the early 18th century held the largest corn market in the West Country. Devizes has about 500 listed buildings - a very large number for a small town.

Private drive
From Roundway Park this drive leads to Roundway House and Home Farm. Most of Roundway House was demolished in the 1950s leaving only the stable block, now used for weddings and other social functions.

2012 : Modern housing north of Devizes
So modern the builders are still there and it isn't on the map yet. Congratulations to all concerned for the appearance of the houses, smart, good variation, good layout - it can be done.
