Narrowboat "Abbey", Kennet and Avon Canal, Devizes
The narrowboat looks well-used, unlike the pair of rather nice pushbikes on the roof.

World War II pillbox beside the canal in Devizes
Part of Britain's Blue Stop Line I believe. One of several linked stop lines designed to defend against or even prevent the country being conquered by invading infantry.
They all look so small and feeble. The construction looks weak, admittedly after 70 yrs it has weathered etc, but one tank shell and kaput!
Though I think I recall seeing analysis of the likely effect of our stop lines and several studies conducted by the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and the like concluded that any Nazi invasion would have been halted by such pillboxes, tank traps, concrete obstacles and watercourses. Google it.
