2009 : A361 Estcourt Street, Devizes
The red brick used in the houses on the north side of this road is typical of Devizes and the Vale of Pewsey to the east. Built mostly in the 18th and 19th centuries it suggests the presence of suitable clay. The date on the nearest rank is 1884.

The Green [6]
The Green is a wonderful open space in the heart of Devizes, free accessible to all. The Green is used for Fairs, Circuses, charity and community events. The Crammer Pond is in one corner of The Green, partly in SU0061 and partly in SU0161. There is an interesting article from Devizes Heritage about The Green and the Crammer Pond here http://www.devizesheritage.co.uk/TheGreen.html The market town of Devizes developed around its 11th century castle. It gained a charter in 1141 and holds a weekly market in the large and picturesque Market Place. In the 16th century the town became known for its textiles and in the early 18th century held the largest corn market in the West Country. Devizes has about 500 listed buildings - a very large number for a small town.
