Number 10 Sidmouth Street was built in the 18th century with later alterations. Constructed of stuccoed brick under a slate roof. The shopfronts are modern. It gained a charter in 1141 and holds a weekly market in the large and picturesque Market Place. The Sidmouth Street shop on the right was previously Reading Matters bookshop. Since July 12th 2014 it has been the John Parker Gallery & Shop which sells British maritime paintings, ship models and maritime-related items.

It's good to see a street of traditional business in a town, so many of the businesses have been put out of business by large out of town shopping developments.
