Churchyard, St Mary's Church, Devizes
There are many old and interesting tombs and monuments within the churchyard. The church is no longer used for regular worship and consultations are ongoing to consider community use.

Church of St Mary [1]
The church has Norman origins but was mostly rebuilt in the 15th century with a fine, large and dominating tower Listed, grade I, with details at: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1251640 The market town of Devizes developed around its 11th century castle. It gained a charter in 1141 and holds a weekly market in the large and picturesque Market Place. In the 16th century the town became known for its textiles and in the early 18th century held the largest corn market in the West Country. Devizes has about 500 listed buildings - a very large number for a small town.

The Devizes Pyramid, Sidmouth Street, Devizes, Wiltshire (1)
The sculpture is new having been installed a few days ago. The work was paid for by a local couple with entirely altruistic motives, Patrick and Joan Norton. The work is that of Richard Cowdy of Calne, a few kilometres west of here.
