Shops and bus stop in Carshalton High Street
Taken in 1973 this shows two features which have both disappeared long ago: firstly the Post Office, now closed with the building finding other commercial uses; and second the elaborate 'bus and coach stop' design, which has disappeared not only here but everywhere else in London. The seat is now presumably occupied by a new generation of 'gaffers'.

The Woodman, Carshalton
On the High Street. A grade II listed building, probably late 16th century at front. The listing describes it as a butcher's shop, certainly a pub now (it calls itself a wine bar but sells beer).
