St Helier railway station
An island platform and a small waiting room are the minimalist facilities that are available at this station on London's extensive southern suburban network. On weekdays there is a half-hourly service of trains to Wimbledon with connections to main line services. A journey to London Waterloo is scheduled at 35 minutes.
The station is named after the St Helier inner London overspill housing estate built in the vicinity between 1928 and 1936; the estate itself was named in honour of Lady St Helier, who was a London County Council Alderman between 1910 and 1927.

Railway Correspondence & Travel Society South London Rail Tour at St Helier
View northward, towards Wimbledon: SR Wimbledon - Sutton line. The line and station were opened as recently as 5/1/30, with an electric service from Holborn Viaduct via Tulse Hill, Streatham and Wimbledon to Sutton - now (since 1988) by Thameslink. Steam locomotives normally worked on freight (and milk) and only Wimbledon - St Helier, so beyond here this ex-SE&C C class 0-6-0 (No. 31722, built 1/1901, withdrawn 5/62) had to take on the assistance of an E4 0-6-2T for the 1-in-40 on the final stretch into Sutton. It was a memorable Tour, covering numerous unfamiliar sections of the network in South London.
