Former Technical School, Marlow Road
My original title for this was "Government Offices, Marlow Road" which I have since learned is incorrect. I have renamed it, but have left the rest of the caption so that the amendments make sense. "Govt Offs" as marked in OS speak on the map. I think a citizens advice bureau is here among other things. It's a very splendid building, anyway, although the odd panel pattern in the windows gives a strange walled up look, don't you think? Update from John M, with thanks:- Built as Maidenhead Technical School in 1896 and used as a Red Cross Auxiliary Hospital during WW1. The reference to Govt Offices is to the adjacent 1970s or 1980s? building for Commonwealth War Graves Commission on site of the old Drill Hall. Update 2 from Andrew Radgick, with thanks:- The bricks for the building were supplied by the firm of Thomas Lawrence in Bracknell.
