Anti social behaviour in Maidenhead high street involving E-bikes, Scooters and Youths loitering

While conducting high-visibility patrols in the vicinity of Waitrose, officers engaged with members of the public who raised several concerns regarding ongoing anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the town centre. Reports included groups of youths congregating near retail premises, engaging in disruptive behaviour such as shouting, littering, and intimidating passers-by. There were also mentions of individuals riding e-scooters recklessly on pedestrian pathways, posing a safety risk to shoppers and vulnerable members of the community.
In response, officers provided reassurance and conducted informal interventions where appropriate. Crime prevention advice was distributed as part of the Winter Burglary Campaign, with a focus on home security, personal safety, and responsible use of electric cycles and e-scooters.

Officers conducted a high-visibility engagement at Sainsbury’s on King Street on the 27th Oct 25, distributing several crime prevention packs to members of the public. During the operation, two individuals exhibiting suspicious behaviour were deterred from entering the store, helping to prevent potential incidents of shoplifting. This activity forms part of our ongoing commitment to community safety and crime reduction.

Vehicle and bicycle thefts around Maidenhead train station

Officers from the Maidenhead Central Neighbourhood Policing Team have been conducting regular patrols in the town centre, working in close partnership with other agencies to tackle the issue of bicycle theft.
Through collaborative efforts with local CCTV operators and partner organisations, several suspects have been successfully identified in connection with recent thefts. Investigations are ongoing, and appropriate action is being taken to hold those responsible to account.

Maidenhead High Street ASB
As part of a two-day action in Maidenhead town centre, officers have carried out high visibility patrols to address anti social behaviour (ASB). During these patrols, officers engaged with members of the public to provide advice on ASB, the unlawful use of e?scooters, and the dangers associated with cycling along the High Street. These proactive measures form part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all those visiting and working in the town centre.

Further patrols and engagement activities will continue in the coming weeks as part of our ongoing efforts to keep Maidenhead a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

We have successfully completed safer street operations in January resulting in 3 shoplifters being arrested and another male arrested for public order offences in the High Street.

Shoplifting priority
Officers have conducted “Have Your Say” (HYS) engagements within the Maidenhead area throughout this month. These sessions were aimed at deterring crime and providing an opportunity for members of the public to raise concerns and seek advice on local issues.
HYS meetings were held outside Marks & Spencer in Maidenhead town centre, where officers engaged with members of the public regarding concerns such as shoplifting and other criminal activity. Crime prevention advice was provided to those who approached officers during these sessions.
Additionally, an HYS meeting took place at Maidenhead Library, focusing on crime prevention measures related to drug offences, anti-social behaviour (ASB), and shoplifting.
As a result of the HYS meetings there has been a well known shoplifter who has been arrested for trying to steal items from one of the local stores. As a result they have been arrested and remanded for the offence.

There has been another HAVE YOUR SAY was held this month at Frogmore Court Maidenhead where officers gave a talk about drug usage and the issues and repercussions around the taking and possessing of drugs.

Stafferton Way car park
The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NHPT) has listened to community concerns regarding ongoing anti-social behaviour at Stafferton Car Park in Maidenhead. Reports have highlighted issues linked to drug use and car meets, which have caused damage to the car park and impacted public confidence.
Thames Valley Police is committed to working alongside partner agencies to tackle these problems effectively. In recent weeks, NHPT has carried out two dedicated days of action under the Safer Streets initiative, focusing on reducing anti-social behaviour both within the car park and on Maidenhead High Street.
We are also working closely with the local council to implement measures that will make Stafferton Car Park a safer environment for customers and help prevent crime. Our approach combines enforcement, prevention, and partnership working to deliver long-term solutions.

A male who is involved in regular high value shoplifting has been recalled to prison and will look to be in jail until the back end of the year.
A vulnerable person was safeguarded and safely returned to the care of a parent, with welfare considerations addressed.
High visibility patrols were conducted within Grenfell, Kidwells and Ockwells Parks. Officers engaged positively with park users, providing reassurance and addressing any concerns raised.
Officers engaged with several local retailers, speaking with store staff and security personnel. Feedback was positive, with staff expressing appreciation for the police presence.
Additional patrols were carried out in Furze Platt, Cox Green and the Stafferton / Alpine Close areas. Officers visited a high demand address and spoke with neighbouring residents as part of ongoing problem solving activity. This matter is nearing the threshold for escalation to formal enforcement action.
Community engagement was further supported through the completion of three “Have Your Say” events at Maidenhead Library, Desborough Park and Frogmore Court, allowing members of the public to speak directly with officers and raise local concerns.
Arrangements are underway for two local retailers to be signed up to DISC, supporting partnership working, information sharing, and crime prevention.

Theft of Vehicle and Bikes

NHPT have been completing regular operations in the town centre concentrating on theft of bikes, and the ASB which surrounds the use of electric bikes/ escooters in the town centre. We are in contact with BTP and looking to complete more operations around the train stations to prevent theft of biked and theft from vehicles.

We will address reports of anti-social behaviour in Maidenhead High Street and the areas outside the train station. This will be achieved through high-visibility patrols, targeted enforcement activity, and engagement with local businesses, transport partners, and the wider community. Individuals identified as causing anti-social behaviour will be dealt with robustly using appropriate enforcement powers, alongside diversionary and safeguarding measures where appropriate.

We will address reports of theft and shoplifting within the Maidenhead town centre. This will be achieved through high-visibility patrols, targeted enforcement activity, and close working with local retailers and partner agencies to identify and deter offenders. Persistent offenders will be proactively targeted, and where offences are identified, robust enforcement action will be taken, including arrest and prosecution where appropriate.

We will address concerns relating to the theft of bicycles and motor vehicles, including theft from motor vehicles, as identified through community feedback. Patrols will focus on local car parks and areas surrounding the train station where vehicles and bicycles are often left unattended for prolonged periods. This will be supported by high-visibility patrols, targeted enforcement, and crime prevention engagement with the public. Offenders will be proactively targeted, with robust enforcement action taken where offences are identified.

July 2026: Officers arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs following a foot pursuit through MAIDENHEAD town centre. During the arrest, officers recovered a quantity of suspected Class A drugs along with evidence supporting the investigation. The man has been released on bail pending further enquiries.

July 2026: Officers arrested a 27-year-old man and a 58-year-old man in connection with suspected drug dealing in the KENNET ROAD area of MAIDENHEAD. Officers recovered a substantial quantity of suspected Class A drugs and a significant amount of cash. The arrests followed proactive patrol activity, during which officers observed suspected drug-related activity and subsequently stopped a vehicle linked to the investigation. Both men have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

July 2026: Neighbourhood officers have continued to carry out regular Safer Streets operations across MAIDENHEAD, targeting anti-social behaviour, drug-related activity and other criminality within the town centre, parks and identified hotspot locations. Approximately eight operations have been conducted so far this year, each resulting in positive action being taken against offenders. During the most recent operation, officers arrested and recalled one man to prison, dealt with one individual by way of a Community Resolution for possession of Class B drugs, and carried out high-visibility patrols at multiple locations across central MAIDENHEAD.

July 2026: Officers arrested a 40-year-old man after identifying a vehicle on COOKHAM ROAD, MAIDENHEAD that had been reported stolen during a burglary. Following a coordinated response, officers stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect. He was subsequently charged with multiple road traffic offences and bailed in connection with burglary and vehicle theft offences pending further enquiries. The stolen vehicle was recovered and has since been returned to its owner.
