The Fishing Temple, Virginia Water
In this area King George IV had a 'Fishing Temple' erected, essentially an ornate tented pavilion designed by Frederick Crace. It remained a focus for royal picnic parties until it was replaced in 1867 by a 'Swiss Chalet'. This was demolished in 1936.

Virginia Water, Fishing Temple
Just to the left of centre of this view across the lake at Virginia Water there is a set of steps, with a boat tied alongside it. These once led to the 'Fishing Temple' which was built in 1825 by Sir Jeffry Wyatville as a retreat for King George IV. It was demolished in 1867.
