On the corner of Church Lane and Chadwick Street. It was built in 1888 and was acquired by Oswald Carver in 1898 and a gymnasium was built and opened in 1900. The Marple Dramatic Society moved into "Carver's Recreation Club" in 1920 and acquired the building in late 1929. On the left is "The icing on the cake". On the right is a greengrocer's. In between is "Pink Parrot" according to their website http://pinkparrotonline.co.uk/about-us/ "At Pink Parrot we attempt to bring individuality – unusual gift ideas and individual clothing by British and European designers, right through to Eastern-inspired garments, hippy chick and a romantic Gothic range."

On the right at the corner of Market Street is the former Pineapple Inn Image, one of many ex-Robinsons pubs.

On the right is Roger Fisher, opticians. In the middle is The Samuel Oldknow. Named after the local businessman and mill owner who was responsible for much of the development of Marple and Mellor some 200 years ago. The micro-pub opened in 2016 and has a somewhat quirky two level bar in a converted shop.
