Lock#11, Peak Forest Canal
Lock number 11 on the Peak Forest Canal; one of the 16 locks in the "Marple Flight" which raise the canal by 209 feet (64m) over the course of 1 mile.
Lock#11 was known as "Brick Row Lock". Brick Row was a line of cottages built for Samuel Oldknow's workers. It ran at an angle away from the canal on the offside near the lock (http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/peak/pf7a.htm Pennine Waterways).

Peak Forest Canal, lock 11, Marple
The boat is starting to drop 13 ft in one of this flight of sixteen locks, all of just about the same depth, which is very deep by narrow canal standards.
