Lock number 11 on the Peak Forest Canal; one of the 16 locks in the "Marple Flight" which raise the canal by 209 feet (64m) over the course of 1 mile. Lock#11 was known as "Brick Row Lock". Brick Row was a line of cottages built for Samuel Oldknow's workers. It ran at an angle away from the canal on the offside near the lock (http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/peak/pf7a.htm Pennine Waterways).
