Old Milestone by the B5470, Chapel Road, New Horwich
Carved stone post by the B5470, in parish of WHALEY BRIDGE (HIGH PEAK District), Chapel Road; East of Whaley Bridge, on the verge, on South side of road. Chapel Wedge, erected by the Macclesfield to Chapel en le Frith turnpike trust in the 18th century. Inscription reads:- : To / Stockport / 11 Miles / Manchester / 18 : : Chapel en le Frith / 2 Miles : Milestone Society National ID: DE_CFMC25.

Now used as a recreation pathway this was an incline on the Cromford and High Peak Railway and worked by stationary engines first by chain then by wire rope.
