Roofs and rear of Pack Horse Inn
This is one of the component images of the panorama in Image In the middle distance is Image and Image, whilst further away we can see all the way to Hayfield and Kinder Scout. I used this image to make a point about the bucolic pleasures of outdoor rambling, and a friend replied "I'm mildly amused because that's the area I'm from. It's changed a lot in 30 years. Birch Vale was cotton mills, foundries, dirty engineering and grossly polluted waterways. Now people see the area as "natural" not realising it's post-industrial."

Courtyard in the rain
The courtyard, or (I suppose) what Southerners might call a "Beer Garden", of the Pack Horse Inn. I was waiting for my breakfast.

The Pack Horse Inn, from the hillside behind
This is one of a series of panoramic shots taken from the hillside above the Pack Horse Inn. The Inn features in the foreground. This image is a composite of 8 28Mpixel images taken with my Samsung NX500 camera and 16mm lens, stitched into a panorama with Microsoft ICE software. The resultant image of 17590x3899 pixels is too large for Geograph, but is available on request. Uploaded here is a version reduced to 8790x1950 pixels using Irfanview. See also Image

The Pack Horse Inn, from the hillside behind
This is one of a series of panoramic shots taken from the hillside above the Pack Horse Inn. The Inn features in the foreground. This one is an in-camera panoramic stitch made with the camera in my Nexus 5X phone. The android camera application guides one through sweeping across the scene, presenting a series of target points into which a dot representing the current viewpoint is moved, which then captures a frame. The frames are then stitched by the software in the phone. The phone is held upright, so that the long edge of the camera is vertical, giving the maximum vertical resolution available. This image is 9338x2490 pixels See also Image
