The Crescent, Buxton

Buxton Crescent
The low March sun highlights this magnificent terrace and doesn't allow the dilapidation to show - until you get quite close and find it all fenced off. One day it will be restored - as a hotel? Wait and see. There have been many false starts.

Built as a hotel, assembly room and lodging houses in 1780-88 with some additions circa 1803 and alterations in both the 19th and 20th centuries. The property, especially the hotel part, retains many original features.
