The Friends of Hattersley Station have created a community garden and a meeting place outside the station. The inscription on the marble seat in the centre reads:
TMBC and the friends of Hattersley Station dedicate
this seat in recognition of the hard work over many
years by Cllr Paul Smith and Lord Tom Pendry in
securing the railway station for the people of
Hattersley
Date dedicated 19th December 2015

Hattersley Station Forecourt
In 2014/15 Hattersley Road West was diverted in order to pass closer to the railway station. The car park was also upgraded. The new benches look nice but I don't know who would probably use them as they are too far away from either the trains or the bus stop.
Update: I've since been informed by The Friends of Hattersley Station https://www.friendsofhattersleystation.com/index.html that they are in fact used a lot. The fact that they are not near the bus stop is quite irrelevant as the gardens were created as an oasis of calm for residents and commuters alike. These gardens are the only gardens of note on the very large estate and were created for the community by community volunteers.

Hattersley Railway Station access road
Construction of a new access road for Hattersley station. The site cabins (white buildings right hand side background) are in the position of the now demolished Centurion Public House. The dumper truck seems to need a puncture repairing.
