Union Street
The lorry in the photograph bears the logo of TDG. According to Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TDG_Limited the company began in 1922 as the General Lighterage Co Ltd and changed its name to the Transport Development Group in 1957. In 2011 the company was taken over by Norbert Dentressangle.

Hyde Library
Originally Hyde Technical School and Free Library on Union Street which opened in 1897 replacing the former Mechanics Institute. http://oldhyde.blogspot.com/2011/05/mechanics-intitute.html In recent years the building was shared between the library and Tameside College but the college has moved out and the library has been extensively refurbished. The car park on the left is on the site of the original Hyde Baths.
