Originally Hyde Technical School and Free Library on Union Street which opened in 1897 replacing the former Mechanics Institute. http://oldhyde.blogspot.com/2011/05/mechanics-intitute.html In recent years the building was shared between the library and Tameside College but the college has moved out and the library has been extensively refurbished. The car park on the left is on the site of the original Hyde Baths.
