This buddleia with abundant purple flowerheads has quite taken over the vacant lot at the corner of Cross Street and Water Street Image Buddleia (or correctly "Buddleja") is a deciduous shrub that often colonizes waste ground. It is often known as Summer Lilac or Butterfly bush, being particularly attractive to butterflies.

The plants are taking over
The vacant lot on the corner of Cross Street and Water Street was being invaded by the butterfly bush in 2011 (Image viewed from Cross Street). It has since engulfed the fencing. Buddleia (or correctly "Buddleja") is a deciduous shrub that often colonizes waste ground. It is sometimes known as Summer Lilac or Butterfly bush, being particularly attractive to butterflies.
