The new Post Office
The post office in Hadfield has now moved to Nisa Store on Station Road. It opened about a month before this photograph was taken. Mettrick's butchers shop can be seen on the right in the foreground, this has now closed down. The butchers was made famous as the location of Hilary Briss's butchers shop in The League Of Gentlemen.

Mettrick's Butchers Shop, Station Road, Hadfield. Better known to fans of BBC's comedy series "The League of Gentlemen" as Hilary Briss's shop selling that "special stuff". You MUST try the home made sausages they are "to die for".

Hadfield Spiritualist Church, 7 Jones Street, Hadfield
This hut, which appears to be made of corrugated iron, is the Hadfield Spiritualist Church. The sign outside actually says Hadfield Spiritual Church, but maybe that was a mistake, or the name has changed. The church is a member of the Spiritualists' National Union.

Bankbottom, Hadfield
The road is typical of the older ones in this area. The stone of the buildings is considerably less black than in the 1960's, when there were many working mills here. The road name is often spelt Bank Bottom, but on the road signs it appears as Bankbottom.
