The former Brookfield Hydro Cinema, Poynton
Situated on the busy London Road South, this building dates back to the late 1930's, but is now disused and the site has been approached by Tesco. Plans - http://www.villagescoops.co.uk/poynton/article_608.shtml Petition against it - http://www.poyntonagainsttesco.co.uk/index.php?page_id=15
As at December 2008, Poynton seems to have rebuffed the giant retailer's advances.

St George's Church, Poynton
The church dates from 1859. The steeple was added in 1884, when the ring of 6 bells was placed in the tower. In 1871 Poynton separated from Prestbury and became a Parish in its own right. The Church, being built in the middle of the 19th Century reflects the architectural tastes of that period - which was to create a building in 13th Century Gothic style.
