Bank and Pawnbrokers

The bottom of Bridge Street
Tiviot Dale coming in from the left meets Prince's Street (right) to cross the Mersey at Lancashire Bridge on Bridge Street. The river is culverted under Barclays Bank and used to remain culverted under the Merseyway Shopping Centre but recently a section has been revealed and a replica of original bridge parapet erected.

Barclays Stockport
Barclays bank in the centre of Stockport is built over the infant River Mersey which was culverted from the late 1930s and now flow under the Merseyway Shopping Centre. Lancashire Bridge and the adjacent coaching inn, the Buck & Dog were demolished. The entrance to the pub with its ornate stonework Image was preserved on the Percy Street side of the building.
