Narrowboat decorations near Bollington, Cheshire
Narrowboats are often painted and decorated in traditional manner, but others try to be different, like this one with a meerkat family guarding the brass headlight and horn. I think I have been spotted. Just for the record, the boat at the top of the picture did not belong to the Macclesfield Meerkat Company.

2002 : Adelphi Mill, Bollington
The Adelphi Mill was formerly a silk mill but has now been converted to offices and a pub.
Silk was once a main industry in the area and the mill, built by the side of the canal, is an example of how the Macclesfield Canal brought prosperity to Bollington, Macclesfield, and other places along its line.

The Adelphi Mill was built in 1856 for the spinning of cotton, and later silk. During the Second World War, spinning ceased and the production of parachutes took over. At the end of the sixties the Mill was bought by Britax for the production of webbing for motorcar seatbelts until the late eighties. The Mill was then sold and converted to offices and for workshop uses.

Adelphi Mill
Adelphi Mill was built by Martin Swindells in 1856 as a cotton mill but was also used for silk. The railway which reached Bollington in 1869 replaced the Macclesfield Canal as the primary means of transport.
