Kelshall Cross and millennium monument
The base is all that remains of this medieval cross. By 1795 the stump must have been well known since it gave its name to a nearby piece of land (Stump Cross Field). There is another medieval cross in Kelshall in the church yard (see http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4499). The obelisk was erected to mark the new millennium.

Kelshall: cross and millennium obelisk
The remains of a mediaeval cross and the obelisk commemorating the millennium stand on the little green where North End and Kelshall Street (ahead) meet, just south of the village hall. The picture was taken early on a cloudy September evening.

Remains of Kelshall Cross and millennium monument
The rough lump of stone on a modern plinth is the remains of Kelshall Cross. This was found in 1906 and set up here. It is considered to be 14th century. This was the base, but how it was deduced that it supported a cross is unknown to me.
