Thurnalls, Royston
A late Georgian stuccoed front with Roman Doric doorcase and a funny little pediment. As the roof and side suggest, it conceals an older house (C17th). Grade I listed.

Royston: fine houses on Melbourn Street
A winter-morning view from the churchyard. Builders were in at The Banyers Hotel, whose yellow-brick facade conceals an earlier timber-framed house. It is Grade II listed: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/en-161821-the-banyers-hotel-royston-hertfordshire#.VrJXhiiT7ZY . To the right is a 17th-century house refaced some time in the 18th century. Banyers Hotel
