Election posters near Ashwell
Election posters seemed generally thin on the ground at the July 2024 general election but the occupants of this property on Station Road were doing their best to make up for it. Nevertheless they were to be disappointed. Neither the Conservatives nor the Liberal Democrats were victorious in the North East Hertfordshire constituency where Labour won with a majority of 1,905.

Station Road: Shire End Close
These houses, called Mulberry Gardens by the developers, were about to be built the last time I passed this way, almost a year before: Image The name of the road derives from the byway, Shire Baulk, which passes behind the houses and forms the boundary between Hertfordshire and Cambridgeshire. These houses are near Ashwell & Morden railway station, so within commuting distance of The Great Wen.

Station Road leads from Ashwell to Odsey (and Ashwell & Morden station). The county boundary crosses the road at the next bend and a Welcome to Cambridgeshire sign is just visible in the centre of the picture.
