Pig Industry Development Authority buildings, Stotfold
These buildings are now derelict, but around the 1960 - 1970 period, this was a testing facility for checking the growth of pigs from weaning to slaughter. I have some very good memories of this place, it is so sad to see it now.
Update. July 24 2015, Biggleswade Chronicle reports.
Plans for a new care home, a new lower school and 116 new homes were approved by Central Beds Council for this site.

Fairfield Park
This old psychiatric hospital has now been converted into apartments. There are too many trees to be able to get a good view of the whole building. The area is inhabited by black squirrels. It is said that they are a genetic variation of greys but they are smaller than a standard grey.

Church, former Fairfield Hospital - foundation stone
The Victorian mental hospital, opened as Three Counties Asylum, closed in 1999. The main buildings were converted to houses and flats, and new housing built in the grounds. The church is a grade II listed building.

Stotfold: Former Three Counties Lunatic Asylum Church
The church was designed by the same architect, George Fowler Jones, who designed the main asylum buildings. It was completed in 1879 and is constructed of yellow brick with ashlar and red brick dressings. The bell tower visible here has four stages with light slits on the middle stages and a clock on each of the two visible faces. The clocks are not original having been replaced in 1982. Regretfully the clocks had stopped on the day that the photograph was taken. The church has, since 1997, been a Grade II Listed Building.

Pond on the edge of Fairfield
Looks like it's been a while since there was deep water in here. Just a dribble in the bottom today even after the heavy rain.
