Stotfold Watermill - Stone Floor
The shaft is a replacement as the original was fire damaged (but saved). The two new stones can be seen here, as can the iron supports which are original.

Stotfold Watermill - Hurst Frame
The machinery here is very nice and open. The two nearest are in working order and a new type of stone from Holland. I think this is due to the French burr quartzite not being excavated anymore and Derbyshire gritnot being good for white flour. There are two Derbyshire grits at the back (not working), they were used for animal feed like most mills in the 1950s and 1960s.

Stotfold Watermill - Overshot Wheel
Very difficult to get a picture due to mesh. However this view shows the great iron bar controlling water flow. The wheel is the widest in a corn mill in the country and could power four stones at once. Very powerful.
The water flows through the mill from here Image] Image], over the wheel before ending up on the other side of the road bridge.
