The Religious Society of Friends' Meeting House
Quakers you know. There is not a shot to be had of this building without trees in it.

The Friends' Meeting House, Hitchin
A modern building on stilts, built in 1950 to replace a 19C building. There is a stair lift for wheelchair access.

The Quaker burial ground, Hitchin
As often in Quaker burial grounds the headstones are of a simple standard shape, although some seem to have sunk into the ground. The stones in the foreground, at least, are inscribed with the number instead of the name of the month.

William Ransom Physic Garden, Hitchin
Beside the museum in Paynes Park, the garden commemorates William Ransom who 150 years ago was active in the local lavender industry and then developed a medicinal plant company. The company is still active in the Hitchin area and is the oldest surviving independent pharmaceutical company in the country.

Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery AKA Charnwood House
In September 2012 Hitchin Museum will be closed for some two years. The artefacts will be combined with those of Letchworth Museum in the Town Hall building in Brand Street, Hitchin, which will be converted for museum use. Hitchin Museum has been at Charnwood since 1941.

Hitchin Museum and Art Gallery in Paynes Park
The museum has recently (circa 2018) moved to a site adjoining Hitchin Town Hall in Brand Street. The new museum combines the old Hitchin and Letchworth museums and is now called North Hertfordshire Museum.
