The Chequers Inn, Woolmer Green
Undoubtedly this inn came into existence to serve the traffic on the Old Great North Road, but the current building appears to be of no great age. Still I enjoyed a portion of venison pie when I called in - so will almost certainly be visiting it again.

Old Milepost by the B197, London Road, Welwyn Parish
Cast iron post by the B197 (was A1), in parish of WELWYN (WELWYN HATFIELD District), London Road, Woolmer Green at junction with Wolvesmere, in pavement, on West side of road. Cheshunt iron casting, erected by the Welwyn turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-
