Doorway to St Mary's Church
Within the Perpendicular porch is this fine late Norman doorway. Pevsner notes "one order of colonnettes with scallop capitals and a round arch already with Early English mouldings". St Mary's is listed Grade I https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101114064-church-of-st-mary-everton

St Mary's Church, Everton
The west tower of Northamptonshire ironstone was partially demolished by lightning in 1974 and rebuilt with new pinnacles in 1999. The rest of the church is built of the local brown cobbles, dating back to the late Norman period and according to Pevsner "unusually complete", with the addition of the Perpendicular south porch and clerestory. Although the village of Everton is now in Bedfordshire, the church lies in the diocese of Ely as the benefice is shared with Gamlingay, across the Cambridgeshire border. Until county boundaries were tidied in 1933, part of the village including the church lay in a detached part of Huntingdonshire surrounded by Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. St Mary's is listed Grade I https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101114064-church-of-st-mary-everton
